ONE OF A KIND — Roman Glass Sterling Silver
These Roman glass fragments date back approximately 1,500 to 2,000 years.
They come from ancient wine cups and bowls fashioned during the time of the Roman Empire, then transported by sea along the routes linking the Mediterranean to the Orient.
Some sank with merchant ships, remaining buried in the sea for centuries, until salt, sand and time transformed their material.
Their bluish, green or opaline color comes from the minerals present in the sand used at the time, while their iridescent reflection is born from the slow reaction between the glass and the sea water — a natural patina that only time can create.
Each shard bears the traces of this long underwater stay: an inner light, a softness of foam, an ancient silence.
Mounted in sterling silver, each piece connects the purity of the metal with the memory of the sea.
Wear it alone, suspended from a Chiang Mai chain or a De La Valma neck bow, like a fragment of an ancient ocean.
